Robot Speak Truth Words

He should know - he sits on my desk watching me all day.

New-house things, wedding things, commission things, gallery things, day job things...
I'll be back to regular posting next week, I hope!

P.S.
I love how people say "robit" in old sci-fi radio shows :)

A Family Affair

I'm so excited to announce the launch of this holding page for the Protomen, illustrated by my dexterous John DeLucca! It was a lengthy undertaking, and I saw the whole process from beginning to end. Lots of late nights with that digital paintbrush...

Once he finished the images, the illustrations were handed off to someone else to be animated and I think it turned out really well - take a look! And be sure to watch it for a few moments - things change and move. There's just so much detail in there - a small computer screen doesn't do it justice.

And kudos to my brother, Dylan, for some of the lettering design. It's fun to see his strange invented alphabet put to use. I'm tickled that my fiancé and my brother were able to collaborate in such an unexpected way.

Oh My!

Well! We just bought ourselves a house!

There's a lot to be done before the whole process is complete, but at least we've got the ball rolling, and we're thrilled!

And terrified.

And so happy :)

My Goodness

Life just contains too many things right now!
And I ate too much chocolate, so now I feel weird .

Hopefully, better posts will follow later this week. Hold onto your socks!

Happy Commission

This was a fun one!

I've done quite a few cut-paper collages in the past, but creating a digital collage was delightful. I scanned tons of paper I had lying around, then chose the ones I liked best. Although I was using a wacom pen rather than scissors, I still cut my shapes out first, then moved them around, playing with various arrangements and placement. The digital aspect allowed me to caper about with color changes and pattern size, making little adjustments here and there.

I did perhaps miss out on some of the happy accidents that occur with hand-assembly, but the flexibility of working digitally was just plain fun :)

Yeah, another headdress...
They're just so fun to draw.

Happy Friday!

...So relieved that the weekend has arrived!
I'll be spending it finishing up commissions, constructing bright yellow tissue paper poofs for the wedding, and enjoying some much needed peace & quiet :)

Keeping my fingers crossed for a fair-weather picnic on Sunday. Enjoy your weekends!

So Fun

Every so often, I get to work on a commission that I absolutely love.

Here's a little peek at such a piece I'm working on for my neighbor. Will post the finished collage in a few days :)
