Mrs.

Greetings from the land of the legally wed!

Johnny D and I returned late Wednesday night from our Haunted Honeymoon (The Marshall House in Savannah, The Provencial in New Orleans, and The Myrtle's Plantation in St. Francisville) exhausted from travel, filled to the gills with delicious food and happy as clams.

As for the wedding day itself, there's not a thing I would change about the day! It was wonderfully fun and we had a blast seeing friends from long ago, enjoying some of the best carrot cake I've ever tasted, and dancing the night away. Nothing like shimmying in a full skirt to keep away the chill of an October night in the mountains!

I'll share more photos, soon ;)

Hitched on a Hill

This will be my last post here for about two weeks. You see, my weekend plans include getting married in North Carolina and then happily venturing off for our haunted honeymoon!

I'm bursting with happiness, and I share it with all of you, my friends.

Cheers! See you on the flip side :)

Forging Our Own Way

This past weekend, we spent two days making our own wedding rings in a lovely loft studio in downtown Cleveland. John made mine, and I made his. It was fantastic fun and we came away with two lovely, shiny rings and an experience we'll remember very fondly :)

Tap Studios in the Loftworks Building on East 40th was the space in which we worked, and I couldn't recommend them more - lots of natural light, very professional, yet personal and warm. Plus, they use mainly recycled and conflict-free materials, which is fabulous!

If you're interested, take a peek at the photo album from our workshop!

Safe Journeys

Spent a lovely afternoon by lake Erie this past weekend, watching the sailboats gliding along the water, a perfect mirror of the clear blue sky. I really miss sailing in the canals and lakes of Florida with my family.

As I looked out over the broad lake, I could imagine perfectly the slap of the waves on the bow as we cut through the water, the fine spray that shone in the sunlight, the loud flapping and drumming of the sails and the ropes, the sleepy feeling of being lulled by the rise and fall and rise of the boat followed by half-panicked excitement of having to abruptly cut the sails and turn the boat into the wake cause by a passing, discourteous speed-boater.

There's something about watching the sails slip along the horizon that makes me feel perfectly at ease, if also a little envious. I'd like to slip along the horizon in my own little ship.

Gathering, Creating, Preparing

So sorry for the very few posts recently! My To-Do list for the wedding is full of many, many small tasks and it has kept me very busy. Plus, there has been more than usual to accomplish at work, and I'm also preparing for two group-shows in October. Whew!

Posts might be scattered in the new few weeks, but I'll try to keep up as best I can.

Happy Monday!

Dear Prudence

A fun sketch I did for a friend's White Album printmaking project, based on the Beatles' song.

In the Blink of an Eye

One month from now, I'll be at the top of a little hill in North Carolina with this person I have loved for nearly 6 years, surrounded by friends, family and the people who will soon become my family. Time has certainly passed swiftly this year and it's surprising that the big day is nearly here!

I'm celebrating by eating cold spicy pizza for breakfast ;)
